A graffiti from the bathroom walls of Gimmelwald hostel:

I would love to meet the person who wrote this…

To the tune “The sound of silence” by Simon and Garfunkle

Hello hostel my old friend
I’ve come to stay at you again
because I have been unraveling
in the midst of some whirlwind traveling
and the vision
that was planted in my brain
still remains
around the Alps
at Gimmelwald

I restless times I walked along
polluted streets of cobble stone
neath the halo of a rail pass
I saw it was a pain in the ass
when my soul was stabbed by the flash
of the greatest plight
that split the night
and sparked the need
for Switzerland

The next dawning day I saw
ten people maybe more
people on a porch talking
people in a kitchen cooking
people climbing mountains
that tourists never share
and no-one dares
disturb the Alps
at Gimmelwald

Fools say” Ah you do not know
Balmer’s is the place to go”
hear the words that I might teach you
take my arms that I might reach you
But my words like silent raindrops fall
and echo in the Alps
of Gimmelwald

But hostel people every day
share the serenity they’ve made
watching the Jungfrau each morning
and the colors of the glacier forming
and the guests know the words of the prophets
are written on the bathroom walls
in every stall
and whispered
in the Alps
of Gimmelwald
