Camere Giuliano Basso
newly restored rooms in the heart of Vernazza
a home away from home, with a double bedroom, single room and bathroom (with a bath)
Dave wrote: Here is an update for those seeking rooms in Vernazza. We got off the train at 7:30 p.m. Friday in mid July at Vernazza and were lucky enough to be directed to the cafe/internet site/Laundromat immediately on your right as you enter town from the “station”. The woman who run the cafe knows everyone in town and had a room for us in ten minutes. (July 2003)

I highly recommend this chap as he is honest and has created a beautiful home away from home, with a double bedroom, single room and bathroom with a bath!! (a rarity in this village). because he only has two room, he looks after you, instead of rushing you in and out.
With my own verandah to watch passers by or swoon over the Mediterranean, I highly recommend Giuliano’s hospitality!!

Rick Steves says:
For $65: Trattoria Gianni rents 21 small rooms just
under the castle. It’s a steep climb but worth it for the rooms with views and balconies. (Piazza Marconi 5, tel. & fax 0187-812-228, tel. 0187-821-003)
For $55: Albergo Barbara, on the harbor square, is run by kindly Giuseppe and his Swiss wife Patricia. The rooms come with a bathroom down the hall, but the big doubles with views are grand. (Piazza Marconi 21, tel. & fax 0187-812-398)
Camere—pleasant, rentable private rooms and apartments.
Ask at any business on main street or try the harbor front Gambero Rosso restaurant, where the rooms come with views sweeter than the staff.
Or consider Affitta Camere da Filippo, a good network
of 15 rooms and apartments run by Antonio and his mother Rita. (Via A. Del Santo 62; for info, ask at the Blue Marlin bar, tel. 0187- 812-244)
