Any advice on Apulia? | Reader Feedback
I made good use of your information on the Cinque Terre this year and despite having to go there for the last two weeks of June my two friends and I had a fabulous time. It was too hot to do much walking though but we did enjoy the exquisite villages, the sea and also the surrounding area. Despite the large numbers of tourists the villagers remain friendly and helpful, basic words of Italian are useful though. We stayed in the hostel in Manarola which provided us with comfortable, affordable (the NZ dollar only buys 50 cents US) accommodation, good food and once again helpful friendly advice.
This year my husband and I are off again – yes it seems that Kiwis do travel very extensively, despite us being named after a flightless bird. This time we are going to fly into Roma via Bangkok, spend 3-4 weeks in Italy then ferry over to Greece and tootle around the Greek Islands for another 3-4 weeks departing for NZ from Athens. We will be there September and October. Do you or anyone reading this have any information about Apulia? I fancy traveling down the coast to Naples by train then heading around the south coast ending up in Bari for the ferry to Greece.
There is not a lot of info in Lets Go about the southern region and Lonely Planet does not appear to publish the Mediterranean version any longer – not that I know if there was much about Apulia in it anyway. Has anyone been there?
Hoping that someone can help.
