Lerici A Quaint Little Town With Less Tourists Than Cinque Terre | Reader Feedback

My wife and I found Lerici to be a quaint little town with not a lot of tourist compared to Cinque Terre. It is located south across the bay from Portovenere with La Spezia being in the middle. They have some very nice beaches there. One is public and free and the other one is 10000 lire per person. There are some very nice restaurants in Lerici too. We enjoyed Monterosso and Vernazza but way too many tourist.

Lerici was a bit more local and calm, much less hustle bustle. The boat ride too Monterosso was 35000 lire roundtrip. There is also a very nice art gallery there ran by Carlos Casseli. He has painted some of the most beautiful scenes of the Italian Riviera. The town south of Lerici that I would say is a must see is Tellaro. It has a rocky shoreline and is very small with the two lane roads being really only one lane. Very narrow alleyways leading out to the see and colorful houses all bunched together with some cliff divers going off the rocks. It was wonderful.

Thanks again for your great website!

Off to Gimmelwald again this weekend. I have been there twice in the last few months but my wife has never been. I have also been up to the sharks tooth but not to the top just to the flat portion. I didn’t want to press my luck free climbing on the back.
