I was in Cinque Terre in June 2000, and stayed for four amazing days at La Torretta in Manarola. Gabriele, the proprietor, was incredibly sweet and helpful, and the place was clean, though not luxurious (but very affordable for my double room with private bath). Definitely book in advance, since he is usually full.

Breathtaking! Isn’t it the small things (the fiegnr bowl’ with the flower petals, beautifully set Nespresso station, bath amenities, etc.) that offer that little special something. The handwritten note was sweet. If you’re up for it, rent a Vespa/scooter for a day. It’s a fun way to explore.
