Cinque Terre Now A National Park, Institutes Entry Fee

Now that the Cinque Terre is a national park, there’s an entry fee. Starting March 1, 2001 visitors arriving at the Cinque Terre by train, boat, or car will be charged a one-time L5,000 fee – unless they have a confirmed hotel reservation (with a letter or fax from the hotel as proof). Money collected will be used for wall, terrace, and trail repair. So, if you’re asked for money as you step off the train, boat, or your car, it’s legit…and for a decent cause.
