I was in Cinque Terre at Easter 1999. I went with some friends, we stayed in the new youth hostel, it was very nice. Luckily we had booked three weeks in advance. A lot has been done for the tourists in recent years, the via dell amore tunnels have been constructed, elevators and walk ways have been built, and signs and notice boards added.
I did a trip to Cinque Terre in July of 2000, with a Canadian friend of mine. We lay on the beach much of the time, did some hikes and went to Pisa, one hour away by train. The Blue Marlin Bar in Vernazza now has internet access, very useful.

I did a trip to Cinque Terre in the Fall of 2001, with 3 friends. We stayed in one of Edi’s apartments in Riomaggiore (very nice), swam in the Mediterranean at Guvano beach, hiked the high trails and had dinner on the piazza in Vernazza as night fell – surreal.
